The problem with nuclear waste is largely overdone. Radioactivity decreases very fast with distance. As long as it’s not being transported by some liquid o solid. Put it in water and its stopped altogether. There would be plenty of sites that would be very safe to operate and where the waste could remain essentially forever. The real problem is political and that no local politician wants to have the site in his constituency so the play NIMBY. Like the fear of CO2, this is irrational.
