Not only in Britain. Misery is a very bad reward for a feel-good policy. European governments will topple, extremists will dig in and demand ever more extreme measures, and mainstream parties and governments fear those fringe groups so they cave in. But when people are in the streets and flock towards anti-climate scare parties, they will turn around and kill this Ponzi scheme. Not because they are good people but because they like their jobs.
