Green growth or degrowth: what is the right way to tackle climate change?

It’s a nice example and it’s fitting and very graphic and any person with more than an ounce of brain and the will to use it would immediately understand what we are in for. But you won’t convince any activist with those parables no matter how fitting they are. I grew up right on the Iron Curtain so I had a good look at what Communism meant every day for my whole youth. So had anyone that lived where I lived. And yet, we had those blowheads back in my day. People see what happened in Israel and find ways to rationalize it. It’s useless. The only remedy is having a government that takes care of the silent majority and gives those activists some stern consequences. Won’t be easy to get.

One set of ideas runs counter to the mainstream consensus that technology will save us from climate change. Can degrowth ever win enough converts to persuade humanity to change course?

I was introduced to and met Rudi in Angola when he started to develop his Sub Saharan Africa network. At the time he worked for EconGas/OMV and he tried organizing longterm LNG supply for them under the unlikeliest of all circumstances.
