LNG Buyers in Asia Look to Resell Supply

Asian buyers of LNG cannot store a lot of Natural Gas. Their underground is not suitable for underground storage and LNG tanks are vats of boiling cryoliquid. Storing it is very expensive and only possible for very short periods of time. So they need to over-contract on long-term contracts to be sure they have enough of it at any time. But as they can’t possibly predict when they need how much, there will be volumes that cannot be used up. So they trade it off. It’s a supply chain protection mechanism that costs money. Europe can play the market sink. And it will, as it has everything Asia does not.
