Lower the Voting Age to 16, to Drive Climate Action

I used to think that lowering the voting age would be a good thing as it would make my own country more democratic. How wrong and naive I was. Young people tend to have little to lose so they always take maximalist positions – to hell with the consequences. Age mellows a person and as one builds up a life, property, and status, one tends to put a little more thought into choices. Lots of young voters make politicians pander to those very loud but irresponsible voices. This tilts politics towards the extremes. I would argue that no one who has not paid taxes in his life should be able to vote. Skin in the game is an important concept.

I was introduced to and met Rudi in Angola when he started to develop his Sub Saharan Africa network. At the time he worked for EconGas/OMV and he tried organizing longterm LNG supply for them under the unlikeliest of all circumstances.
