Mercury Thermometers Versus Probes in Automatic Weather Stations

I grew up in a trust world. As kids, we trusted our doctors, our scientists, and our teachers, and sometimes we thought there were good politicians too although that last one was never really solid. No more – today we live in a low-trust world as we have been lied to so many times by so many people that trusting someone is really hard. So it is with temperature information. We had multiple scandals with temperature data adjusted (modified to suit certain purposes) and automatising everything is just one more step towards total disconnection from the real world. They say “Trust us” – well I don’t.
