Took us quite some time to find out that foisting things onto the population will impoverish them and destroy pretty much anything they have today including their freedoms. We had that in our East 30 years ago. I grew up in the shadow of the Iron Curtain (literally 5 km away) and knew as a young child that the place behind the fence was something I didn’t want to be forced to live in. If you need this to prevent people from running away, it must be horrible and so it was as we subsequently found out. And now we go down the same road. We don’t learn.

I was introduced to and met Rudi in Angola when he started to develop his Sub Saharan Africa network. At the time he worked for EconGas/OMV and he tried organizing longterm LNG supply for them under the unlikeliest of all circumstances.
