I have often commented on the supposed hydrogen economy and I have said more than once that apart from some money-destruction schemes there won’t ever be anything that deserves the name hydrogen economy. It won’t ever amount to anything more than a barely visible part in the diagram of all fuel options. What irks me still is that politics and the hydrocarbon industry desperately try to please activists that are obviously hell-bent on destroying the fundamentals for decent human life on this planet. There is no middle ground. They don’t want a compromise – they want utopia.
Hydrogen, despite its severe shortcomings, is a dispatchable form of zero carbon energy, and is therefore a grave threat to useless renewables.
