Operail to Develop LNG Freight Locomotive

I cannot believe that this has not been done many, many years ago. Technology-wise, LNG is very, very mature. It has been used as a fuel in vehicles for more than half a century and locomotives are big beasts that are almost constantly working. Big engine, no tank space problem, massive fuel needs – should be a slam dunk.

I was introduced to and met Rudi in Angola when he started to develop his Sub Saharan Africa network. At the time he worked for EconGas/OMV and he tried organizing longterm LNG supply for them under the unlikeliest of all circumstances.
