Guess what – it’s not only since Greta that we have been hypocrites. Ever since we transferred our manufacturing to Asia and our mining to Africa we have been feeling smug as our consumer goods became ever cheaper on the backs of slave labor and appalling environmental destruction. But what we don’t see does not make us sick and also allows us to feel so superior and smug. We are all guilty of this but we have also destroyed our industries in the process of devaluing labor. And we have made some countries environmental hellholes. It’s about time we pulled everything back home and deal with the real cost of our imagined virtue.

I was introduced to and met Rudi in Angola when he started to develop his Sub Saharan Africa network. At the time he worked for EconGas/OMV and he tried organizing longterm LNG supply for them under the unlikeliest of all circumstances.
