Virtue signaling has a price. Building gargantuan vanity projects has a price. Trying to put the economy on a new footing without even trying to make Saudis true entrepreneurs but rather making them chasers of public funds has a price. Ignoring the true problems the country is facing and pushing super-uneconomical-tech solutions for them has a price. We have all come to believe that the Saudi coffers are bottomless. Cash will never run out. Until it does. The demand for more cash to smooth things over is the only bottomless thing in the country.
