The U.S. Dithered Too Long on Nord Stream 2

If someone wants to be foolish, there is nothing you can do. The Russians want the pipeline, many in Europe want it. Are any of them thinking all the consequences to the bitter end? I doubt so. Its a quick win with a long tail. I tend to look at the positives for the LNG word as I know that it will be realized – come what may. The positive effect is that more pipeline gas in Europe means more flexibility for creative LNG trading products. Europe is not quite there yet but it has a good shot at becoming the motherlode for LNG innovation. That’s worth to be had. Another pipeline won’t make a dent here. Sovereign nations make sovereign decisions. The US may also make decisions accordingly. I won’t blame them.
