The U.S. Military Needs to Build Arctic Capabilities and Capacity

The US military needs a sea change in their doctrine and equipment. Sure they come out on top today as their adversaries are in shambles but the world is becoming a vastly more dangerous place and even if the US does not fight every single war in existence, it will face countless challenges. Decades with only expeditionary practice made the leadership believe that the very expensive capabilities are not needed anymore. The wars in Ukraine, Yemen, and Israel will produce a lot of change and the impetus for transformation. Being politically correct matters little when people die. Time to build hard power that’s capable of keeping everyone safe. Time for the rest of the world to pull out purses.
