Whatever America’s energy future, our nuclear waste problem isn’t going anywhere

Nuclear waste is a political problem only. If we poured all nuclear waste into glass blocks and lined those glass blocks up in a remote desert valley, we had the best and cheapest storage site. People don’t understand, radiation clings off very fast with distance. Put 100 miles between you and an open-source, if wind or rain does not carry over irradiated particles, you are safe. We could build shacks in a remote desert valley. The valley walls would be a great shield towards the sides, the dry climate would ensure no water radiation, it would be easily accessible if things did ever happen, and the shacks prevent dust accessing the blocks. I am not a nuclear scientist so maybe someone with better knowledge than I have could look at the proposal and tell me whats wrong with it.
