BP issues force majeure to Golar over Tortue Ahmeyim LNG project

I have seen many Force Majeure definitions in my life as a contract lawyer. Some well drafted. Some looking like the shopping list of someone with serious brain issues. And a lot of stuff that comes out in between. But usually, the parties agree that FM is a situation that the party that claims FM could not have overcome by using reasonable endeavors. A company like BP must project into the future. They could not have foreseen or appeared for COVID-19 but all the hallmarks of oversupply have been on the horizon for quite a while. COVID-19 has become an excuse for a lot of mistakes that have nothing to do with the virus.
