Western governments are fast approaching the awkward realization that you can’t just fire up the money printer every time someone gets a bright idea to spend billions—turns out, reality has a balance sheet. As prices rocket and life becomes punishingly expensive, even the most clueless, vote-chasing politicians are being forced to notice that money might actually be, shockingly, finite. Now comes the hard part: choosing between dumping cash into their favorite hollow virtue-signaling pet projects or maybe, just maybe, funding initiatives that actually help people survive the social disintegration they’ve helped create. Sure, elections might hang in the balance, but don’t hold your breath for them to grow a spine in time to make the right call.
