China will not get out of this trade war unscathed. And their most serious problems are home-baked. Their economy is so export-dependent that anything happening on world markets deals them blows and punches. I believe that the economy is already shrinking in real terms and they just use everything they have to mask it. Why is that important? Coal is still the cheaper fuel and when times get tougher in China, the Chinese will go whats cheaper.
