Clean Up the Critical Rare Earth Supply Chain

The right way to deal with this is border adjustment taxes. Make everyone who uses Rare Earths prove that they come from operations that respect some basic environmental and labor standards and if they cannot do so, there is a tax or tariff applied to it. This would raise prices and if done the right way it might encourage project developers in developed countries to go for it. Would this be a perfect solution – no. But countries like China are in such a dilemma that environmental and labor policy are their lesser worries right now.
