Economic Liberalism’s Uncertain Future

I never really understood what the financial markets have to do with true economic liberalism. It’s a casino. I understood that when I was a Teenager. Those gambling there are gamblers and have nothing, really nothing to do with any form of entrepreneurialism. Entrepreneurs are not gamblers. They speculate slightly – thats true but not on money developments or indices but rather on what the market might need. A well-managed mom-and-pop store is entrepreneurial. A sausage eaterie is entrepreneurial. The suit-clad and bespectacled banker is not. They are closer to communists than most imagine.

I was introduced to and met Rudi in Angola when he started to develop his Sub Saharan Africa network. At the time he worked for EconGas/OMV and he tried organizing longterm LNG supply for them under the unlikeliest of all circumstances.
