ExxonMobil makes first 2024 oil discovery in prolific Stabroek block offshore Guyana

Are we looking at a new Norway? Or a new Venezuela? The dangers of such discoveries are clear as too many countries have gone up in flames after oil was found in commercial quantities. And even more have turned into rigid dictatorships. Any country that does not have to rely on the creative juices of its population to create wealth can afford to keep this same population as coddled pets. Thats hardly a recipe for long-term success but let’s hope that Guyana will be one of the few that manages this transition into money, money, money. We all long for a good success story that we can share with the world.
