Hottest June kills UK fish and threatens insects

I have seen temperature curves going back to the 17th century for the UK to underpin such claims. They record temperatures to the tenth of a degree and sometimes even more precise than that. Did we really have the capability to record temperatures to this precision before the industrial age? I doubt. Additionally, how many temperature measuring stations have there been in the world 400 years ago? Or even 100 years ago. Pretty much anything before WW2 is historical fiction. Most global temperature measurement today is a mess but any records from before the 1970ies must be consumed with appropriate amounts of natron.
