It’s True If You Believe It

What is true? You can look up to the sky and see what its color is. You can sip a glass of wine and sample its flavor. You can feel the sand between your toes when you walk the beach and you can smell the wax when a candle burns. Those are all sensations you experience directly so they are immediately true to you or not. That said, even that depends on you trusting your senses. But all the rest comes down to trust. Who do you trust with the information you get? Because most of us cannot go to the poles to see what conditions there are like. Or observe all coastlines of the world at all times. Or measure anything from space. We need to trust that others don’t deceive us. But where humans are involved, deception will happen. Especially when trillions of USD are at stake.
