The Earth without Greenhouse Gases

Look at temperature differences on the Moon. No atmosphere to modulate temperature changes, so the Moon sees 250-degree Celsius swings. Imagine this on Earth. It’s going from the Sauna to colder than the coldest we have ever seen anywhere on Earth. It’s even worse on planet Mercury—more than 600 degrees Celsius from day to night. Any atmosphere, regardless of the mixture of gases in it, is a temperature modulator for the energy we get from the Sun. Some gases do that better than others, but at the concentration of CO2 on Earth, this gas is insignificant. Water vapor is the big workhorse here.
