Natural Gas is not the objective for most drillers in the US. They want oil, shale oil. The gas coming up is just a side-product in most cases. If it was for gas only, many would not have drilled any holes in the first place. This means that all money is made from oil and gas comes up for free. Well, not for free because something will have to be done with all that gas and flaring becomes ever harder. This means a huge lot of cheap natural gas in the US system which means that many can get creative on what to do with it. And if the export release valve cannot be used as well, it needs to be used locally. We might face the next phase of a big Natural Gas revolution in the US.
