This is the Century of Natural Gas

I always had a problem with the expression “Natural Gas”. That is until I discovered the abiotic origin of most methane gas. Until I did, I believed like most other people that Natural Gas is the result of organic matter that got enclosed and decayed inside the Earth’s crust. That said, in all likelihood only a very tiny proportion of the Natural Gas and also the crude oil we currently produce is of fossil origin. Just take this little tidbit: the deepest fossils we have ever discovered were at less than 5000 meters below the surface. But we find oil and gas at double that depth. The Earth gives us everything we need. And oil & gas are the only real renewables.
