It’s almost comical but I am always stunned by how many so-called energy professionals have some skin-deep idea about production but not the slightest clue about logistics. Electricity logistics is different from gas which in turn is different from liquids and solids. It’s a complex world. One word – just because you have it cheaply here does not mean that it will still be cheap once you got it there. The harder something is to store, the more instantaneous something, the harder (i.e. more expensive) it becomes to handle. Electrical power is king here. Good logistics and the understanding of its costs win wars – also energy wars.

I was introduced to and met Rudi in Angola when he started to develop his Sub Saharan Africa network. At the time he worked for EconGas/OMV and he tried organizing longterm LNG supply for them under the unlikeliest of all circumstances.
