Turkey’s Botas and Algeria’s Sonatrach extend LNG supply deal

Turkey goes shopping in its former colonies. It’s easy to forget but Algeria has once been part of the Ottoman Empire. Sure, that was one of the extreme limits of the empire but there is still a very sizeable Turkish community in Algeria and there are historic ties. This is not a bad thing in itself but it’s interesting how assertive Turkey has become in many of its former possessions. Imperial ambitions?

Turkey’s state-owned natural gas and LNG firm, Botas, and Algeria's LNG producer Sonatrach have extended their liquefied natural gas supply deal for three more years.
