US and Qatari LNG: Competitors or a parallel universe?

US LNG players have to be way more creative when it comes to the commercial environment. They don’t have the clout of a giant state-sponsored player that strategically develops markets and capabilities it deems interesting. But they are also exposed to the hot and all-consuming wind of market forces and competition. They are also in contact with the most paradigm-busting force in the oil and gas world – the shale driller. And they operate out of a very liquid market with lots of domestic outlets that all have the potential to swallow anything they can produce. I am happy they both exist.
