Why China’s Renewable Energy Transition Is Losing Momentum

Analysts fear that China might not hit the 2030 targets. Firstly, what targets has China committed itself to? And second, who does still believe that China feels bound by any of this? The only thing that might actually reduce China’s emissions is the trade war as I predict Chinas economy to start contracting. Its has grown too fast and has gotten to top-heavy and clunky. Smaller rivals outmaneuver it now that the US is such an uncertain market. Fewer output results in less economic activity which in turn results in less energy use and fewer emissions. But as money goes scarce, China will revert to the nastier but cheaper stuff to burn.
