Rising labor costs, US tariffs, OBOR countries revolting from Chinas debt trap projects, ghost cities and cement mountains behind oil lakes – and now even the real cost of wreaking havoc with the environment put into product cost. China has its challenges cut out.

For years, China’s industrial heartland has been cloaked in smog, its waterways choked with pollution pumped from enormous clusters of factories churning out the mountains of cement and steel needed to build the Chinese economy.
