Ad Hominem Backfire in the Energy/Climate Debate

I can impossibly count how many times I have been painted with this brush. There was a time when I bothered to argue but to what effect? Did I ever manage to pull someone around? Not a single instance. Facts, logic, and evidence do not matter to extremists. They have their world view and nothing that anyone can say will ever dent it, let alone change it. Thats why I decided years ago not to debate toxic people. As soon as I see the first Ad Hominem, the person gets blocked, goes on my blacklist file, and the comment gets deleted. I cater to those willing and able to engage in fact-based, rational discussion and who are able to bring a new angle to a discussion without dumping their poison on others.

Get off your high horse, all of us are ‘pro climate’, you just have a different view on how to achieve that.
