Some years ago I was part of a debate on artificial intelligence and I was asked if my profession is not at risk of being wiped out by the rise in artificial intelligence. I responded in a very relaxed way that not only was I not concerned, but I also thought that business would be better than ever. AI is a copy-paste process. A very smart copy-paste process – that is given – but copy-paste still. When you have used AI enough to have a big red bloody nose from it, you will want to come back to have someone who can get the job done. But all those doing copy-paste jobs (that’s the majority) might have a problem.

I was introduced to and met Rudi in Angola when he started to develop his Sub Saharan Africa network. At the time he worked for EconGas/OMV and he tried organizing longterm LNG supply for them under the unlikeliest of all circumstances. He figured that Africa would be the only place where this would be a realistic prospect for long term uncommitted supplies of LNG.
