The longer I live and the longer I look into human history and the development of systems regulating life in a society, the more I believe that the fundamental pull for any moderately free society is toward dictatorship. I talk to people from all walks of life and when I see the massive support clear dictators have among the masses, if I see how easily the masses can be lied to and manipulated, the more I come to the conviction that freedom is a blip in our histories – to be enjoyed while it lasts. The monsters wanting to take it away from us are always lurking in the dark and they will use whatever invented scare they can foist on us to make us acquiesce. In the end, there will always be enough people to cave in willingly.

According to Michael Mann, communism is necessary to maintain democracy.

I was introduced to and met Rudi in Angola when he started to develop his Sub Saharan Africa network. At the time he worked for EconGas/OMV and he tried organizing longterm LNG supply for them under the unlikeliest of all circumstances.
