Does the Oil Industry Have a Future?

As with everything, oil will be transformed by the gradual disappearance of what we know as globalism today. Having a world-class oil reserve in some far corner of the world is nice, but it also spawns a logistical chain that has a price tag. What we have learned through COVID and now the Ukraine war is that it’s nice to have some energy sources right at home that cannot be disrupted. So, if a country has shale reserves, even if they cost more per barrel to develop than oil produced from a far-away world-class reserve, you have it where you need it. Plus, the entire value chain is in your country. Thats jobs for many people instead of money exports.
