Drilling technology: Autonomous drilling comes to life

I have seen many kinds of energy professionals in my life. Some of them could not even comprehend the difference between LPG and LNG. Yes, they called themselves oil & gas experts. But when it comes to shale drilling, real wizardry comes to play and I don’t blame anyone if they lose sight of the bleeding edge. A friend and driller once told me that the most modern rigs are to their older brethren a bit what a turbojet is to a WW2 propeller plane. It’s not long ago that drillers were essentially blind when they poked the Earth. They are far from that now. There is plenty of room at the bottom.

I was introduced to and met Rudi in Angola when he started to develop his Sub Saharan Africa network.
