Dutch Gate breaks new record, working on further expansion

GATE makes sense as a Dutch terminal. It makes even more sense as a German terminal. It exists and can pump relatively large volumes of LNG into the gas-starved German market as connections are very good. Also, it’s already very large, and having so many tanks and jetties makes adding vaporizes a rush and debottlenecking becomes very interesting. If Germany is smart it puts a lot more effort into squeezing the maximum out of GATE as its own projects don’t work that well and floating LNG is always more expensive.

Gate LNG terminal handled a record number of vessels last year, and its owners Gasunie and Vopak are working to further expand the facility.

I was introduced to and met Rudi in Angola when he started to develop his Sub Saharan Africa network.
