Energy and the Poverty of Nations

Without reliable energy, we go back to where we were before the Industrial Revolution. Many people think that I am overdoing it but we have countless examples of nations that had been at the pinnacle of their times just to descend into utter destitution. North Korea was once the richer part of the peninsula. Venezuela was dubbed the Switzerland of South America and Buenos Aires the Paris of the south. Many will tell me that it was bad politics or socialism and that’s a small part of the answer. In all cases, things became too expensive to afford for the masses. And energy is part of the deal. Kill reliable energy and we will go down – not just might.
