Full consent of the consumer – yeah right. It will be a checkbox that will be pre-checked with something written in light grey to uncheck if you don’t agree. And there will be consequences attached to unchecking the consent box that most won’t be willing to accept. Greetings from George Orwell.

Energy firm plans could see smart meters used to turn off electric central heating

The measures would only be used in emergency situations and with the full consent of the customer and would not apply to gas central heating
