Thats a very good initiative. That being said, are they really aware of what is needed to make shale the success it has been north of the border? The resource base must be similar so that can’t be the limiting factor. One issue the US has not but most other countries have is that energy is a private business there and even subsoil resources are often owned by their surface proprietors. You cant run innovation on that scale on the back of a government bureaucracy. The market is there, the resource base is there and some are willing to walk – can the government get out of the way?
