Japan’s Inpex says Australia risks unintended consequences as it ‘quietly quits’ LNG

I understand Japan’s nervousness as Australia is a very large LNG exporter and is even more important because it’s relatively close to Japan. This makes it one of the most important sources of LNG for them. But if Australia thought that it would reduce conventional fuel consumption in Japan they could not have been more wrong. Japan already looks into more coal and Japan will also lean very strongly back toward nuclear. I don’t mind, both are very nice sources for generating electrical power. But Australia will feel the lack of income from the stuff it sells. Because oil & gas is a pretty important part of its economy. Australia’s economy will suffer, which in time will make its population suffer. Let’s see how long.
