When I was a kid, I was not very popular. Some said that I was not like my age – a bit old. I wanted freedom – already when I was 10 and this never left me alone. My entire life was dominated by this theme. That being said, I still respected authorities. Not all of them and I always had a healthy distrust of all authorities but there were always those to which I gave some measure of thrust. One such domain was science. Facts are facts – I thought. But they are not. Closed domains such as science are even more venal than those that undergo some competition. It starts in academia and slowly infects everything. Galileo was not the first and we won’t be the last.

I was introduced to and met Rudi in Angola when he started to develop his Sub Saharan Africa network. At the time he worked for EconGas/OMV and he tried organizing longterm LNG supply for them under the unlikeliest of all circumstances.
