Nuclear Subsidies Galore …

The subsidies for nuclear are not here to improve the energy infrastructure or to help nuclear become a better widget. They are here to feed the monster as with any big important industry, there is an army of consultants, so-called experts, and the kin of lots of the decision makers and stakeholders that need to be fed copious amounts of cash. Much regulation of the nuclear industry is not here to promote safety or good management, it’s here to create leverage and excuse to feed the monster. Cutting the red tape would obviate the need for subsidies but then the monster will be hungry and considering the alarmists like their cozy lives and often depend on the monster, this won’t happen. It’s easier to squeeze the tax and ratepayers dry.

I was introduced to and met Rudi in Angola when he started to develop his Sub Saharan Africa network. At the time he worked for EconGas/OMV and he tried organizing longterm LNG supply for them under the unlikeliest of all circumstances.
