Russia Urges the World to Consider the Arctic as an Alternative to the Suez Canal
Oh boy, sure Russia would like the world to use the northern route a lot more. This would bring economic life to its northern shores which are vast. But I have bad news. The world is just going into a pretty serious freezing cycle. And this won’t go without traces in the Arctic. Oh, and even if this would not be the case and the world thaws completely, distance has a price as well. There is a reason why ships pay for Suez when they could do the Cape without the price tag. But time and fuel have a price too and the arctic route is not exactly short.
