Sinopec begins drilling Asia’s deepest oil, gas well in Tarim basin

Deep drilling, unconventional reservoirs, unconventional compositions, and whatnot more in terms of issues to deal with but guess what. This is oil and gas produced in the country. Not only does it provide security of supply when things go awry, but it also creates jobs and throws money at the local communities where this happens. So even if this oil and gas have a higher cost than some reservoirs in a conventional oil and gas export country, it is still worthwhile to pursue. Besides, innovation will bring the cost down but this needs entrepreneurs, and that’s hard to find in a one-party state.

With a design depth of 9,472 meters, it will be the deepest oil and gas well in Asia and a breakthrough of milestone significance in China's ultra-deep oil and gas exploration.
