The European Union’s LNG supply security

I have long argued that Europe has something in the LNG market that Asia does not have and it could make Europe some sort of quasi-Market-Maker. Europe has deep underground gas storage. Not every country mind you as the geology is not suited to that everywhere but some countries can back up many months of gas consumption into their storages and there is potential for more. If Europe becomes the place that can accept dump cargos when the world does not need them they provide a price floor. If it can skip a cargo as storage will save them they do so even more. But right now, it’s panic buying.

I was introduced to and met Rudi in Angola when he started to develop his Sub Saharan Africa network.
