The Problem With Satellite Temperatures

There is a fundamental problem with anything done by a satellite. How do we know that what the satellite tells us is correct? If we measure temperature in situ, we have a thermometer we can look at. That can be messed with as well and it is, but at least in theory I can go there and verify myself. But how do you do that with all the model data that we get from satellites? That’s right, its model data as measuring something from orbit is like sniffing the contents of one’s breakfast based on a dump taken 100 km away from you. We are being sold an X for a U.
