A much younger me expected a politician to be a scheming, backstabbing cutthroat but I thought that even the vilest political pond scum would not go as far as kicking its own country in the balls. Maybe out of idiocy but this cannot be a winner on election day. How wrong I was. I forgot to factor in all the kickbacks, the chummy jobs for friends and family, the consulting gigs, and book deals paid for by those governments. In the end, my assessment of politicians was not so wrong. I was just not creative enough to see the entire picture. What do I miss still?

I was introduced to and met Rudi in Angola when he started to develop his Sub Saharan Africa network. At the time he worked for EconGas/OMV and he tried organizing longterm LNG supply for them under the unlikeliest of all circumstances.
