Biden Promised Europe More LNG From US… Forgot to Check With Industry First
I am often surprised to find how many people think that the US president can direct private companies on its soil to reroute volumes of LNG (or anything else for that matter). But he can’t. The US does not have a National Oil Company and has no stake in the volumes game. that’s the role of private companies. The US could set up a special purpose company that purchases LNG and then resells it to Europe but why would it do that? If Europeans want more LNG they have to compete with Asia in a supply short world. No Biden is required for that.
