Ever since the first unreliable power producers were connected to the grid, they were consumers of network flexibility. The old grid had been built with reliable electricity sources in mind. The overcapacities were designed to protect the system from demand irregularities. An insurance policy of sorts. This insurance policy has been consumed without payment by the unreliables. Now it’s at the breaking point and EV’s come on top. Prepare for extensive blackouts.

Delays with crucial transmission projects mean industrial energy users will miss out on some of the cheapest renewable energy available worldwide, Snowy Hydro has warned.

I was introduced to and met Rudi in Angola when he started to develop his Sub Saharan Africa network. At the time he worked for EconGas/OMV and he tried organizing longterm LNG supply for them under the unlikeliest of all circumstances.
