When someone uses something very expensive but unworkable instead of something less expensive but reliable to replace coal, why would that person do that? Well, maybe this person does not want to get rid of the black stuff in the first place? Maybe it knows that it’s running a lie but that this lie is the key to a competitive advantage he holds over many competitors. Chinas problems with renewable energy don’t concern it very much. They are another handy excuse not to get out of coal. And keep the rest of the world at the edge. Nicely played.
